The Ginyu Force vs The Psycho Rangers (Dragon Ball vs Power Rangers)

What’s cooler than being cool?.” - Andre Benjamin

The Ginyu Force, Lord Frieza’s most elite five man squad.

The Psycho Rangers, the dark counterparts to the Space Rangers.

You know what they say; teamwork makes dreamwork, and when it comes to these menacing super squads, that statement holds weight, as do the brutal blows these teams inflicted on the actual heroes of the story. But today, we’ll be seeing whose blows can be more effective in this galactic 5 vs 5 team brawl. Will the Psycho Rangers be torn apart by Frieza's best men, or will the Ginyu Force be the victim of a Power Rangers style background explosion? It’s time to see which super squad would come out on top in a DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Start…

As per usual, all canon material will be allowed. For the Psycho Rangers this includes their appearances on television as well as any comic appearances.. As for Ginyu Force, the primary Dragon Ball manga will be used, however the Dragon Ball Z Anime Adaptation will also be used for feats. It does not heavily contradict the primary canon, feats performed in it are not unrealistic compared to what is done in the manga, and Toriyama acknowledges it as a large source of Dragon Ball media. You could maybe make an argument against it considering that the anime and manga still are not truly one to one, but members on the blog believe it’s fine to use. If you have complaints, just annoy Igneous in his DMs (“don’t worry it’s ok I wrote this part myself” -Igneous). As for the lineup, the Ginyu Force will obviously be all five members seen in the original series, but for the Psycho Rangers, they will consist of the original five seen in In Space, meaning Zhane/Psycho Silver and Trek/Psycho Green will not be covered. And one last minor side note, Ginyu will only get the first body we see him in, not any bodies he swapped with throughout the series. So he does not get to have Goku or Tagoma’s bodies.

Background

The Ginyu Force

Guldo! Jeice! Recoome! Burter! Ginyu! Together we are, the Ginyu Force!”

Frieza, one of the most fearsome and powerful beings in the galaxy. His power is unrivaled and cataclysmic, but even still, he needed a team of warriors to do his dirty work if need be. Thus, he enlisted the help of five fearsome mercenaries to take on the most dangerous missions. Led by the courageous Captain Ginyu, this group would be simply known as the Ginyu Force. The Ginyu Force is a team of super-elite and powerful warriors. Unlike others who serve Frieza’s galactic empire, they are merely freelancers greatly favored by the tyrant rather than forcefully subdued into being slaves or servants. One of their biggest missions would come in the form of defeating the prince of the Saiyans, Vegeta and anyone who attempted to steal the Namekian Dragon Balls for themselves. In their bouts with the heroes, the Ginyu Force showed tremendous combat prowess, easily overpowering the likes of Krillin and Gohan, and managing to push back the likes of Vegeta and Goku. Despite their impressive showings, the Ginyu Force were not invincible, and would slowly but surely fall one-by-one to the Saiyan Prince. Guldo, Burter, Jeice and even Recoome would soon fall to his power. With only the captain left alive, Ginyu attempted to use his Body Change ability to gain a more powerful body, whether it be Goku or Vegeta. In the end, however, Ginyu’s soul would be caught within a frog, unable to replicate the technique again. Even with the Ginyu Force only being a minor hurdle in the heroes’ quest to defeat Frieza, their power was enough to make them retreat and gather their bearings before their eventual fight with the tyrant. While they may not be the most powerful villains out there, the Ginyu Force’s flamboyant personalities and otherworldly strength make them one of the more notable villains in Dragon Ball’s catalog.

Psycho Rangers

We're the Psycho Rangers! We're faster than you, smarter than you, stronger than you, but we're evil!

The Power Rangers; a team of five chosen-one teenagers tasked with defending the Earth from the most terrifying villains in the darkest corners of the universe. However, the original team of Jason, Billy, Kimberly, Trini and Zack are not the only people to take up the iconic suits, as multiple different generations of heroes step up to the plate to fight evil. One of those is the Space Rangers, who take to the stars to fight the evil Dark Specter and his second-in-command, Astronoma. However, treachery lied beneath Specter’s forces, as Astronema had planned to overthrow him and take over the galaxy. One of her plans involved creating clones of the Power Rangers, drawing on her master’s power to severely weaken them. And thus, the Psycho Rangers were born.

The Psychos were built for one goal and one goal only: to destroy the Power Rangers. In their many confrontations, the Psychos utterly outmatched the Rangers, with the Rangers needing to constantly come up with new strategies in order to take down these seemingly perfectly-programmed dopplegangers. Eventually, however, they were picked off one by one with numerous different strategies employed by the Space Rangers, such as disguising themselves as the Blue Ranger or ganging up on them individually. Eventually, in a final 3-on-3 fight between the Psycho’s Monster forms and the Ranger’s Megazords, the Psychos would fall in battle, seemingly gone once and for all.

But as it turned out, the Psychos persisted, now digitized and preserved in key cards. A future villain, Deviot, managed to gain these cards and revived the Psychos, now more powerful and dangerous than ever. Although the Rangers were able to overcome them yet again, the Psychos managed to leave a lasting impact on them in the long run, as their encounter with Psycho Pink led to the first Ranger to die in battle.

The Psycho Rangers were a force to be reckoned with, with Leo Corbett even noting that they were the most dangerous enemies they had come across in their adventures. While many villains in the future could be argued to be a bigger threat, the Psycho Rangers and their legacy have certainly left a mark in the history of the Power Rangers.

Experience & Skill

The Ginyu Force

Being known as the most elite soldiers in Frieza’s army, it should not come as a surprise that the Ginyu Force is full of efficient warriors. While the Force has a tendency to show off when underestimating the opponent, their actual martial arts skill lets them keep up with the Z-Fighters, when one side does not have an obvious stat advantage of course.

While Guldo does not have the best martial arts showing, he has shown to be a good strategist which helps him deal with far stronger and faster opponents. As seen when he attempted to use stealth to get the jump on Krillin and Gohan. Recoome has also shown to be able to directly match Vegeta’s skill, with Vegeta being a Saiyan Warrior who has been training his entire life for the sake of victory in combat. Jeice and Burter should also naturally be equal in skill to Recoome, as they are stated to be equal in performance to him.

Ginyu himself is easily the most skilled of the force. He was able to directly match Goku in martial arts in their fight, with Goku having trained with multiple masters in multiple martial arts styles prior to his arrival on Namek. Ginyu additionally is stated to have control over his energy similar to Goku, and is skilled enough to control and release his power only when needed in order to greatly empower attacks.

In terms of overall experience as a group, we know based on their appearance in Dragon Ball Super: Broly that the current Ginyu Force has been in action as a devastating team of five for at bare minimum two decades. Jeice and Burter have shown to have excellent team work together (despite Goku sweeping them), and this level of cooperation is likely something the entire force has considering their charisma with one another.

Psycho Rangers

The Psycho Rangers were specifically programmed to be counters to the Power Rangers, able to take them on and overpower them in a majority of their encounters. This is important, as all Power Rangers connected to the Morphing Grid are granted instant mastery of martial arts, turning even someone with zero fighting experience into a "lethal weapon" as stated by Jason when referring to Billy. This applies to swordsmanship as well in Psycho Red’s case, as he was able to match and even surpass Andros’ skill in sword fighting.

Experience is a bit of a tricky topic to cover, as the Psycho Rangers have only seen so much battle in their lives since their only purpose is to fight Rangers. That’s not to say they have no experience against anyone else, however; members of the group have fought the likes of Ecliptor and even one another when they found themselves turned on one another. Examples of this include Pink and Yellow fighting one another over a misunderstood negotiation and Black holding back Red from killing Andros. While one could argue the power hierarchy between them, these fights show that they are all on relatively equal footing, most members even showing capable of fighting entire teams all by themselves.

As for teamwork, the Psycho Rangers actually went through quite an evolution throughout the series. During In Space, while they would team up every once in a while for team attacks or outright battles, the Psychos often preferred to do their own thing, as their programming swayed them to fight their respective Ranger. This would often lead to incoordination and even competition among the group, constantly at each other’s throats if something didn’t go their way. However, during The Psycho Path comic where they were revived, the team ultimately learned to let go of their selfish ways and work together, even seeing one another as a family to fight for and protect. This led to the Psychos employing proper tactics and teamwork against the Space Rangers, such as when they set up a trap to bury the Rangers for a short time, and even going after any Ranger rather than just their respective colors.

Equipment

The Ginyu Force

Space Pods

The Force’s main method of transportation across the cosmos. These pods can travel in space for months without running out of oxygen to supply the passenger, travel at massively faster than light speeds, and can be autopilot controlled as long as the destination is predetermined. These pods can also be called to arrive near the pilot via being sent a signal, typically via a specific remote.

Ginyu Force Armor

Traditional battle armor worn by all five members of the Ginyu Force. It is slightly more advanced than traditional Frieza Force armor and has the Ginyu Force symbol on it for added flair.

Scouters

Each member of the Ginyu Force wears the most modern iteration of the iconic Scouter. With these, they can measure exact power levels, map out entire planets by specifying coordinates, communicate with each other from a distance, and detect life energy across an entire planet.

Handkerchief

Because sometimes things get dirty.

Psycho Rangers

Psycho Armor

The suits the Psychos wear in combat, allowing them to tank a variety of deadly blows, such as a blast from Ecliptor and the combined attacks of the Space Rangers. Additionally, built into the suits are communicators that allow them to… well, communicate with one another, as well as scanners that let them scan their surroundings for particular targets. Although the Psychos were shown in their armor at all times, the Psycho Path comic showed that they were capable of transforming in and out of them into their human forms.

Psycho Sword

Psycho Axe

The choice of weapon for Psycho Blue, meant to be an evil counterpart to TJ’s Astro Axe.

Psycho Sling

The choice of weapon for Psycho Yellow, meant to be an evil counterpart to Ashley’s Star Slinger.

Psycho Bow

The choice of weapon for Psycho Pink, meant to be an evil counterpart to Cassie’s Satellite Stunner.

Savage Sword

The only weapon that is not an evil version of an existing weapon, the Savage Sword is an ancient sword stuck in a stone on a planet that comes into the possession of Psycho Pink, which she uses to fight Cassie and Kendrix. The sword has two primary unique properties; it’s stated to grow stronger with every hit it lands, and can even absorb energy from its opponent to heal any wounds inflicted onto her. This sword was even stated to be more powerful than all 5 of the Quasar Sabers (the Galaxy Rangers' weapons) combined.

Abilities

The Ginyu Force

Ki Manipulation

Milky Cannon | Dragon Ball Updates Wiki | Fandom

All members of the Ginyu Force are capable of controlling their natural life energy, known as Ki. Ki can be used to empower oneself, create energy attacks, and fly. Each member of the Ginyu Force has also developed their own unique Ki attacks, such as Jeice’s unpredictable Crusher Ball, Recoome’s huge AOE Ultra Fighting Bomber, or Ginyu’s Milky Cannon. Ki can be used in multiple ways offensively, be it large scale AOE or precise blasts, and no one in Frieza’s army shows this variety better than Frieza’s hired guns.

Guldo’s Telekinesis

Guldo is able to use telekinesis to fling objects at or bound opponents in the air. He’s shown that he can bind multiple people at once, and can easily bind and restrict people who are far stronger and faster than him.

Guldo’s Time Stop

Guldo has the incredible ability to completely stop time as long as he holds his breath, allowing him to do what he sees fit with the opportunity. Typically he just uses the chance to get out of danger, but there is no reason he cannot use it for offensive purposes.

 Recoome’s Absurd Endurance

Recoome has frankly absurd endurance. Regardless of if the attack received seemed to have damaged him, unless he actually gets knocked out, he might as well have not been damaged at all. He endured an entire assault from Vegeta that completely destroyed his armor, and was perfectly fine. He took all of Vegeta’s attacks, and only had a blood face he did not seem to care about. Krillin broke almost all of his teeth, and he just did not care whatsoever. The only reason he eventually went down was due to Goku, a far stronger fighter than him, delivering a devastating blow.

Ginyu’s Body Change

By blasting his opponent with an iconic energy blast, Ginyu is able to switch bodies with his target. This can leave his opponent in his own body, which can be detrimental were it to be damaged. The technique is not perfect however, as Ginyu has to get used to his new body before using it effectively. However, the same applies for the opponent in Ginyu’s body, so Ginyu can still gain the upperhand were his body to be out of commission beforehand.

Psycho Rangers

Energy Blasts

The Psychos can fire off their own color-coded blasts of energy, exploding on contact in true PR fashion. They can even combine their blasts into one green energy blast, which decimated the Space Rangers in their second 5-on-5 encounter.

Teleportation

Several of the Psycho Rangers have been shown capable of teleportation. All 5 used it to retreat in their first encounter with the Rangers, Red used it to teleport into the city, and Pink used it to teleport her and several Quatrons onto the battlefield.

Absorption

This ability allows the Rangers to absorb the energy of and gain information from their targets, most notably used when they used it against the Space Rangers to gain a better understanding of their powers. It’s not only usable on other Rangers, however, seen when Psycho Black probed the mind of a random civilian thinking he was the Black Ranger.

Handcuff Creation

Shown in A Rift in the Rangers, Psycho Yellow created handcuffs that were impossible for Ashley to break out of, though TJ was able to free her with his axe, showing that they aren’t outright indestructible. This ability was also shown by Psycho Black in his Monster form, though it’s likely he can do it in his base form as well.

Portal Creation

Soon after, Yellow showed off the ability to create a portal to a faraway location. Similarly, Psycho Black showed it in his Monster form, but again, it’s likely he could do it in his human state too.

Disguises

The Psycho Rangers have the ability to change their appearance, shown in their first appearances when they disguised themselves as the Space Rangers. This ability has even been used to disguise themselves as entirely different people, like Red turning into a child and Yellow turning into an old lady.

Forms

Ginyu Force

None notable. Fuckin' losers.

Psycho Rangers

Monster Forms

The Psycho Rangers can all transform into different Kaiju-like monster forms, both at will and whenever their Ranger forms are destroyed. These forms can not only change in size, but come with their own respective abilities like lightning blasts, Blue being able to summon a blizzard, and Pink having vine-like tendrils as well as fire blasts and air blasts.

Scaling

Ginyu Force

Piccolo

Each Ginyu Force member should be superior to Piccolo prior to his arrival on Namek. Piccolo during the Saiyan Saga was weaker than Nappa, who was far weaker than Saiyan Saga Vegeta, and people who could match that Vegeta can get blocked off by Guldo, you get the point.

  • Piccolo created an island annihilating explosion during the 23rd World Tournament (15.7 petatons of TNT).

  • Piccolo blew up the moon

    • The beam that blew up said moon also traveled at relativistic speeds (0.54c).

Vegeta

Prior to Vegeta getting another Zenkai amp that would let him take on first form Frieza, Recoome was capable and defeated him without too much of a struggle. It is stated Jeice and Burter are equal to Recoome, and that Ginyu is far above all other members of the Force. While Guldo definitely does not compare to Vegeta’s stats during their fight on Namek, him being able to restrain a Gohan who was comparable to Vegeta on Earth means that Guldo should at least solidly scale to Saiyan Saga Vegeta.

King Vegeta

It is stated that Vegeta’s Saiyan Saga power was superior to his late father, King Vegeta. Additionally, all members of the force should be superior to Zarbon and Dodoria, who were superior to top tier Saiyan warriors like King Vegeta. Thus it is fair to say even Guldo gets solid scaling to the King of all Saiyans.

Goku

While Goku obviously wiped the floor with all the members of the force apart from Ginyu when he did show up on Namek, all members should be superior to his base power prior to training on his way to Namek. It is stated by King Kai that they are superior to Goku at this point, and that he would not be able to defeat them. Thus it is fair for all members to scale to pre-Namek Goku.

Psycho Rangers

Space Rangers

As we’ve said multiple times now, the Psycho Rangers were specifically made to be superior to the Space Rangers. Their bragging isn’t just for show, however, as they’ve all shown to be able to overpower their respective colors in one-on-one confrontations.

Various Power Rangers

All came out of nowhere lightning fast-

The Space Rangers are the followups to several different Ranger teams of the past, and given that different Rangers team up and fight alongside one another quite frequently, they should at least be somewhat comparable to them, and thus the Psycho Rangers should be within a similar league of power.

Various Villains

Throughout the series, most-if-not-all villains are able to give their respective Power Ranger teams trouble in physical confrontations. As the Psychos should be relative to the average Ranger, they should reasonably be able to give the villains a run for their money as well.

Weaknesses

Ginyu Force

Despite their impressive track record, the Ginyu Force is obviously not invincible. Guldo is far weaker than the other three sub-members, with Jeice, Burter, and Recoome also being far weaker than Ginyu himself. Additionally all members have a bad case of overconfidence, underestimating opponents even if they see their fellow members be easily defeated. Ginyu is the exception to this, though he prefers to have one versus one fights due to his code of honor. Granted he does not mind winning in a dirty way via his Body Change technique. Though he also seems to be over reliant on said technique were he to face various stronger foes, which is what led to his initial defeat in the Namek Saga.

Psycho Rangers

ALL OUR VILLAINS KEEP BLOWING U-

While the Psycho Rangers were effective in providing a threat to the Space Rangers, they are not without their fair share of flaws. Although this was largely rectified in the comics, the Psycho Rangers did often suffer from a lack of coordination, preferring to take on their respective colors rather than work together as a team; if anything, they were the opposite of the good Power Rangers in that regard. An important thing to note as well, is that despite their name and appearances, it’s never actually stated that the Psycho Rangers are connected to the Morphing Grid, meaning they don’t gain many of the passive benefits of being one like increased strength or mind protection.

Before the Verdicts

Do the Psycho Rangers scale to later feats even though they aren’t around?

Although we are primarily sticking to early Power Rangers feats, given that a lot of the best ones come from that era, it’s also possible that they could be comparable to other villains throughout Power Rangers history. This is because of the Legendary Battle, where every Ranger team up until the Megaforce team fought alongside one another and showed relativity to one another. This is not the only crossover, however, as teams such as the Samurai Rangers and the RPM Rangers have teamed up together, as well as the Forever Red crossover, with all Rangers in these instances showing to be roughly equal to one another.

But where would the Psychos fit in this equation? Well, given that the Space Rangers were constantly shown to have trouble with them and the statement from Leo that they were the toughest enemies they’ve fought, it’s likely that the Psychos could be considered comparable to other villains who the Rangers have fought. It’s not really implied that the Space or Galaxy Rangers ever got stronger since the end of their series, meaning that the Andros and Leo you see in their home series shouldn’t be too far off from the Andros and Leo that show relativity to Carter, Cole, and every other Ranger in the Legendary Battle.

In total, since the Psycho Rangers were shown to be tough opponents for both the Space Rangers and the Galaxy Rangers, they’d likely be able to give future teams a run for their money as well.

“Hey check out this Star level feat for the Psychos, it’s legit right?” - Landon the poo poo head

During a fight with a typical big bad, the Life Force Megazord cuts them up, resulting in an explosion which disperses blue energy across space. Calculations of the feat get up to over a thousand quettatons of TNT, which would result in the monster forms of the Psychos being Star level. Unfortunately for them, there are some issues here.

For starters, the calculation assumes that the blue energy dispersed has equivalent mass to oxygen. We do not really know what this blue energy is or what it is made out of, so assuming this is rather awkward. Regardless of whether or not this method is legitimate however, the Life Force Megazord should not scale to the big space boom regardless. What happened in the scene is that the Megazord cut down the monster, which resulted in a chain reaction of explosions, causing the dispersion of energy in space. As the explosion is due to a chain reaction and not the Megazord’s individual power, the Psycho Rangers cannot scale.

Verdict

Stats

Starting with power, both teams scale to a variety of incredible feats. The Psychos are comparable to threats which can level mountains, cause explosions visible from space, and even destroy the entire planet. Most notably however, they should be comparable to the Octoplant when they are at full power. The Octoplant is a massive being, capable of wrapping around Earth and destroying it. Accounting for the kinetic energy of its movement, this would result in an energy output equivalent to 119 ronnatons of TNT. With their monster forms, each member should be at this level of power.

Unfortunately for the Psychos however, the Ginyu Force is far, far stronger in comparison. They have comparable casual feats such as Recoome’s energy blast causing an explosion that reached space, as well as scaling to feats such as Piccolo destroying the moon. Obviously though, those feats do not compare to the Octoplant. What significantly surpasses the Octoplant however, would be the members scaling to King Vegeta. King Vegeta was a powerful Saiyan leader capable of destroying multiple planets with a wave of his hand, reaching an energy output ranging from 14.34 ronnatons, to 1.8 quettatons. The quettaton value however is probably safer, as it assumes the planets King Vegeta destroyed are the size of Earth, and Earth is considered a small planet in the Dragon Ball universe.

To put into perspective how big the power gap in question is, 1.8 quettatons is equivalent to 1.8 thousand ronnatons. This would make each member of the Ginyu Force at least fifteen times more powerful than the full power of each member of the Psycho Rangers. It is important to emphasize though, that that is the minimum size of the gap. It is important to note that King Vegeta was surpassed by Vegeta as a kid. This is relevant because by the time the Ginyu Force fought the Z-Fighters, Gohan and Krillin had already become relative to how strong Vegeta was during the Saiyan Saga, when he had obviously grown in power compared to his child self. Guldo was capable of handling both Gohan and Krillin, and Jeice, Burter, and Recoome (who are all comparable to each other) are all far above Guldo. Recoome could even blow away a full power attack from Gohan by simply blowing at it. Ginyu himself, additionally, is massively above the rest of his team. With all this in mind, each member of Ginyu Force is most likely far more than just fifteen times stronger than the full power of the Psycho Rangers.

Power is only half the fight however, as speed is also very relevant. In this regard, the Psychos hold a massive advantage. All members of the Ginyu Force should be either comparable or upscale Goku during the early stages of his trip to Namek. While heading to Namek, Goku could react to asteroids while his ship was moving at max speed, meaning he should scale to the ship’s 2.3 Trillion C speed. As impressive as this is however, and no matter how much the Ginyu Force upscales, the Psychos have it beat. Scaling to Serpentera, the Psychos should have reactions around 2.08 Quadrillion C. Just under a thousand times faster than Goku’s ship. While you could argue the fastest members of the Ginyu Force should upscale Goku’s ship, and the Psychos should downscale Serpentera, you would have to be unreasonably generous to assume doing those things would close the absurd speed gap. Thus when comparing stats, the Ginyu Force has a clear advantage in power, while the Psychos have a clear edge in speed.

Arsenal & Abilities

Considering the stats at play here, each team’s arsenal and abilities are certainly going to be vital to their victory. The Psychos have an obvious advantage in terms of equipment, considering their large assortment of weapons. In contrast, the Ginyus’ armor and scouters are good for extra defense and battle analysis, but they are not going to be bashing the Psychos to death with them. The Psychos have the clear advantage here.

Abilities on the other hand is a similar, but different story. On paper, the Psychos would seem to have the advantage. They can match the Ginyu Force’s energy attacks with their own, and their teleportation can match the Ginyu’s flight. At that point, Guldo and Ginyu are the only members of the Ginyu Force with standout powers. However Ginyu’s Body Change could be disadvantageous as he could actually become far weaker in the process. In contrast, the Psychos could bind the Ginyus with handcuffs, separate one of them from the battlefield by dragging them through a portal, or even drain their energy overtime.

While these moves seem useful, the big issue is that they would not actually end the fight. The Ginyus are more than strong enough to break the handcuffs, and separating one of them from the rest of the team still requires a Psycho Ranger dragging them through a portal. Thus, that Psycho is also separated from the rest of the team and has to fight the Ginyu Force member they took one on one. Lastly, while energy absorption seems like a good winning move (either being done by a Psycho individually or with the Savage Sword) due to the gap in power, it is unlikely a Psycho could weaken a Ginyu Force member enough to match them before the member either breaks free of the absorption, or a different Ginyu Force member interrupts the process. Thus while the Psychos certainly have some good powers, none are truly good enough to make up for the large power gap and end the fight.

But while the Psychos lack the abilities needed to make up for the gap in power, the Ginyu Force has the perfect ace up its sleeve to compensate for the speed gap: Guldo’s time stop. By holding in his breath, Guldo can stop time, and despite being the weakest member of the Ginyu Force, has more than enough power to take out multiple Psychos while time is frozen. This time stop is spammable, and the Psychos have no way to survive it. Guldo’s paralysis can also keep them binded in place, giving another member of the Ginyu Force the perfect opportunity to snipe a Psycho.

To summarize, while the Psychos have more unique weapons and abilities, they lack the skills needed to actually end the fight. While in contrast, Guldo provides the perfect way for the Ginyu Force to end it.

Tertiary Factors

In terms of combat experience, the Ginyu Force should easily take it. They’ve been freelance mercenaries in Frieza’s army for years, even dating back to when his father, King Cold was the leader. While the Psychos did come pre-packaged with fighting prowess, their actual experience is only so much, extending as far as the events of In Space and Lost Galaxy, though they did spend some time in training sessions and missions in The Psycho Path. Even still, this puts Ginyu’s squad years ahead in terms of experience.

Fighting skill is another interesting topic to discuss, as while both of these teams don’t have explicit descriptions of what fighting style they employ, they have been shown capable of keeping up with their respective opponents. Obviously the Ginyu Force aren’t as refined or robust in terms of martial arts as Goku or Vegeta, but they have shown that they do have some semblance of prowess. Similarly, the Psychos were shown able to keep up with the Rangers in fighting skill, which is important as all Rangers have a mastery of fighting in their morphed forms even if they don’t possess it naturally.

One of the biggest factors in a matchup like this is teamwork. Can the team pull together to defeat a common enemy? By no means do either of these teams have bad teamwork, as there’s been multiple instances of members coming up with strategies and tactics to take the heroes down. In a similar breath, they’ve also had their fair share of miscommunication, the heroes using it to their advantage to take them down.

There’s certainly a case for either team having better team synergy: the Ginyu Force has shown capable of working together on multiple occasions, especially that of Jeice and Burter as their attacks are the most synchronized of the group and will communicate with each other with their Scouters should they be separated. However, the group as a whole tends to fight their own individual fights, with only one or two members attacking an opponent rather than all five teaming up as a group. Meanwhile, the Psycho Rangers employ a similar strategy in taking on individual opponents in groups of one or two, though in the Psycho Path comic, they have shown that they can team up, such as when they tricked the Space Rangers into a trap and buried them. Both teams are also loyal to one another despite their occasional squabbling, so the idea of in-group fighting isn’t really a factor here.

Overall, the two teams have shown a somewhat similar level of teamwork, more-often-than-not choosing to fight their own battles, but having their moments where they work together. You could make a decent argument for either team being better, but we’ll just call it roughly even for now.

Conclusion/Overall

The Ginyu Force

"Imagine. Working for the most powerful man in the universe. How's that for a 401K?"

Advantages:

  • All members should be significantly stronger than the Psycho Rangers

  • Guldo’s Time Stop is practically an instant win

  • More experienced

  • TOKUSENTAI!! TOKUSENTAI!! TOKUSENTAI!! TOKUSENTAI!!

Equal

  • Likely equal in terms of team synergy and fighting skill

Disadvantages:

  • Slower

  • Practically no weapons to counter the Psychos’

  • Less unique abilities overall

  • Amphibia

The Psycho Rangers

"What do you want more… to kill a few more Power Rangers, or to preserve our family?"

Advantages

  • Significantly faster

  • Far better equipment

  • More unique abilities…

  • Actually from a Toku show

Equal

  • Likely equal in terms of team synergy and fighting skill

Disadvantages

  • Significantly weaker

  • …but none that would help them end the fight quickly

  • Have no answer to Guldo’s Time Stop

  • Less experienced

  • Don’t have a theme song on the level of TOKUSENTAI!! TOKUSENTAI!! TOKUSENTAI!! TOKUSENTAI!!

Both teams have multiple advantages over the other, but when breaking things down, the Ginyu Force has all the advantages needed to pull through. Comparing stats, the Ginyu Force is significantly more powerful and durable to the point the Psychos are incapable of hurting them traditionally. Even putting aside factors like Recoome’s absurd endurance. On the other hand though, the Ginyu Force is so much slower to the point they are going to be unable to land a good hit for most of the fight. Though their better endurance could let them outlast the Psychos’ stamina.

The issue for the Psycho Rangers however is the clash of abilities. While the Psychos have more useful weapons and powers overall, none of those weapons or powers is good enough to end the fight. While in contrast, Guldo’s time stop and paralysis would completely negate their speed advantage. It helps that the Ginyu Force is definitely experienced, cohesive, and smart enough to resort to and work off of Guldo’s abilities, letting them blast the Psychos to nothing once the little green guy gives them the opportunity. Ironically, the weakest member of the Ginyu Force is its MVP in this fight.

The Psycho Rangers are certainly a formidable and well put together team, but their strengths could only do so much against the Ginyu Force’s composition, power, and their ace in the hole, Guldo. Yeah, that feels weird to say. What is not weird to say though is that the Psycho Rangers were simply Forced to lose, as the Range of their opponents’ power was far too much for them. The winners are The Ginyu Force.

A Special Message from LandonTalksALot

Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed the blog! It kinda got rushed towards the end, but we hope you enjoyed it regardless and were maybe even a bit surprised to see just how powerful these characters really are.

Firstly though, I'd like to apologize for something that happened within the development of this blog. While some of you didn't notice, I ended up posting a version that was not approved by the other members of the team, and I still feel really bad for it. I want to say sorry for that, and I will try to be a better overseer in the future when it comes to productivity and quality.

As you can probably guess, this will be the last blog of the year, but I’m gonna be taking a bit of a break in January just so I can get the creative juices flowing once again, and hopefully improve the overall quality of the blogs so they can be the best they can possibly be. While I am pretty satisfied with how a majority of my blogs went, a few others I felt could’ve been better or needed WAY more time in the oven. coughFriskVSBattercough

Still though, I thank each and every person who helped work on these silly little projects, and I thank every one of you who read these, it’s really satisfying to know that you guys enjoy and look forward to these, which will keep me going for however long I decide to do these.

So to close off the 2023 blogs, here’s a special trailer for what’s to come in 2024!
